On USINE (fr.: factory) James Banner creates a sometimes homogeneous, sometimes absolutely disparate world of sound. He says: „The inspiration within the project comes from the exciting interaction of composed themes, structured or free improvisation and in addition to that multilingual lyrics - sung, spoken or shouted - always discussing the constantly changing world of literature, art and politics in the twentieth and twentyfirst century." The artistic center of USINE as sound factory is formed by an integrative golden thread joining composed structures with the constantly self-re-defining freedom of improvising, yet never withholding jazz tradition's history.
